Few are aware that Benjamin Franklin first invented the eerie sound of glass armonica during his diplomatic mission to London in 1761. Franklin was intrigued with glass’s potential as an industrial force, encouraging many foreign glass workers to settle in the colonies.

Early Life and Education
Ben Franklin took amateur musicians’ ability to use simple musical glasses (called musical glasses ) one step further by inventing the first glass armonica which produced chords and melodies with ease.
