At the 1977 Sunkist Invitational, he improved upon his own nearly two year-old record by clearing 5.51 meters (18 ft 2+3/4 in). However, this record only stood for one week before Polish gold medalist Tadeusz Kozakiewicz eclipsed it.
He received the Air Force Achievement medal, Outstanding unit award ribbon and Good Conduct medal. Additionally, he earned the Overseas service ribbon, Longevity service award ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education graduation ribbon and Small Arms expert marksmanship ribbon for his service at Vandenberg AFB California, Keesler AFB Mississippi, Klamath AFB California, Rockville AFS Iceland and Hessisch-Oldendorf AS bases.
Personal Life
He took great interest in his fellow citizens. No plan aimed at improving their wellbeing ever failed to catch his attention and garner his backing.
Dan was an affectionate family man, passionately caring about his children and wife alike. He enjoyed keeping his loved ones entertained with BBQs, indoor movies, and making blanket forts in the living room.
