Early Life and Education
Daniel was raised in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Upon graduation of high school he went on to college where his interests included military tactics, history, philosophy and politics; reading and writing. Daniel had an enthusiastic zest for life that made him an avid reader/writer as well.
After graduation, he was commissioned as an Army infantry officer and excelled at finishing near the top of his class. Subsequently assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, he proved a dedicated soldier while also remaining an outstanding son, husband, brother, father, and friend to all those he encountered.

Professional Career
Daniel Rouse was an Army officer, husband, and father devoted to our nation who took great pride in serving. Daniel loved traveling, family outings, trips to the Jersey Shore and sipping Jameson Irish Whiskey from time to time.
Rouse was recognized twice by Conference USA All-Defensive Team selection as a defensive end and was chosen by his teammates to serve as team captain each season with the Herd. Rouse’s expertise proved instrumental to a defense that registered one of the biggest one-season scoring defense improvements ever recorded by FBS teams.
Rouse amassed 75 tackles, nine sacks, eight hurries and three forced fumbles during his career at Harrisonburg High School – earning first team Group AA All-State selection as well as all region and district honors – before switching uniform numbers at Marshall (he initially wore number 92 before changing it in spring 2013 to 11 in an effort to “change his luck” due to being injured during his freshman campaign). After his military service he studied math, physics, and chemistry at Case Institute of Technology where he received an Institute Fellowship award. Later on he was admitted to the California bar and went on to be an extremely successful lawyer.
Under a grant from the National Science Foundation, he worked at Lawrence Livermore Radiation Laboratory. As part of his research at this lab, he devised mathematical equations to describe changes in solid matter exposed to high temperatures and radiation; publishing several papers on this topic and earning himself an excellent reputation in this area.
He was a loving and selfless individual who deeply appreciated his family, which includes his wife, four children, eight grandchildren, as well as an older brother and sister along with numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, he served Saint John Bosco Parish in Warminster as a deacon.
Personal Life
