Early Life and Education

Shih was raised in Chicago, Illinois. While at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy she participated in women’s varsity tennis team matches, orchestra, student newspaper debate team, student newspaper debate team and Mu Alpha Theta math honor society. Additionally she volunteered in East Palo Alto teaching low-income elementary school children about math science technology; filed multiple patents related to computer vision engineering; is an Anita Borg Scholar; as well as being honored as both Mayfield Fellow.
