They show him their love and devotion, lavishing him with gifts and organizing surgery for him at the age of eight. Unfortunately, Pearl passed away from breast cancer in 1967.

Following her passing, David’s relationships with both his parents were severely damaged. He was especially grieved by learning of his adoption status and yearning for a relationship with her. Despite many attempts, however, they never managed to reconnect.
