David Mayes was born in 1900 in Arkansas to Henry C Mayes and Gussie Mayes.

He married Anna Cavinato in September 1993, and is survived by his wife and two children.

On November 30th, 1971, Mayes passed away at the age of 70 after decades as a professor at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. A passionate educator, Mayes made an immense difference to his students’ lives through his teaching methods and guidance.

Before becoming president of Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama in 2005, he served as CEO for Columbia Southern Education Group and also spearheaded the acquisition of Waldorf University (formerly Waldorf College) in Forest City, Iowa. Under his guidance the online university saw its student population triple from 7000 to 30,000 during his tenure; eventually retiring in May 2018.

David Mayes passed away at the ripe age of 95. Born in Peterborough, England, he was a master precision machinist.

In 2016, he founded Three Bearings Fiduciary Advisors with his business partner Patrick Gallant.
