Early Life and Education

David was born in Bethlehem, Israel as the eighth and youngest son of Jesse. He was also Ruth the Moabite’s grandson.

He began as a shepherd before Samuel the Prophet anointed him to one day become King. While still young he learned to play the harp as a musician for King David.

As soon as King Saul fell ill, his attendant summoned him back to the palace where they could soothe his suffering through music.

Later, while Saul was fighting the Philistines, David volunteered to battle Goliath with God’s assistance.

David was revered as an ideal ruler and poet throughout Jewish history despite the bloodshed during his rule. At 70, he died and was succeeded by Solomon – David’s son from Bathsheba.

Professional Career

Shamash served 14 years as an offensive assistant and quality control coach in the NFL, roles typically filled by entry-level workers; however, these roles rarely enable individuals to advance to positional coaching positions or coordinator positions.

Position with New York Jets as Situational Football and Game Management Coordinator has proven highly successful, helping head coach Robert Saleh anticipate what players they’ll require for games.

He regularly communicates with rules experts like Blandino to find ways to assist the Jets with decision science, while simultaneously animating sessions by hosting pop quizzes and encouraging players to make their own calls.

Achievement and Honors

David was driven by his deep commitment to scientific and democratic ideals such as integrity, honesty, open-mindedness and respect for evidence in his teaching career at Stony Brook University. These principles guided his expansion of access and diversity within STEM education for underserved backgrounds as he built it up over decades.

Dave was widely known for his research efforts; however, his real contribution to Stony Brook and its mission of increasing women and minorities in science lay in his unwavering dedication to those values both inside and outside of the classroom. Dave was an outstanding principal investigator (PI), collaborator (collaborators), administrator/mentor (A/M), tireless advocate of science literacy (LA), leaving behind an extraordinary legacy which will continue to influence generations of students at Stony Brook and New York students for years to come.

David Shamash is the founder of EMET Wealth Advisors, an advisory firm dedicated to helping bankers, technology engineers and medical professionals maximize their savings and protect their wealth. Additionally, he assists his clients prepare for life’s unexpected events as they retire with peace.

He graduated with a BA from Queens College with degrees in economics and accounting; however, quickly recognized that spending quality time with clients was equally as essential to his job.

He then found his calling in finance; currently serving as CEO of EMET Wealth Advisors and helping individuals make smart investment decisions. Furthermore, he’s dedicated to giving back through volunteerism.
