Dolly Partons are an American singer-songwriter, actress, and philanthropist. She is best known for her country music. She has also been a philanthropist and a businesswoman. In addition to her work in country music, she is an active philanthropist and businesswoman.
After leaving the Wagoner family in 1977, Dolly Parton launched her own solo career. In 1978, she was named Entertainer of the Year by the CMA. Parton’s first solo album, New Harvest, First Gathering, was a hit, with the single “Light of a Clear Blue Morning.” Her next album, Here You Come Again, was a country-to-pop crossover.
In 1980, Parton had multiple hits, including ‘Starting Over Again’. She also acted in a feature film called ‘9 to 5′. The theme song from the film became No. 1 on all three music charts, making her the first artist to do so. As a result, Parton’s career became extremely successful.
Parton was also a successful TV personality. The actress was featured in a variety of TV shows and even starred in sitcom pilots for CBS. In 1994, the show Heavens to Betsy, starring Parton and Constance Shulman, was canceled after six episodes. The premise was later adapted for the TV movie Unlikely Angel. In 1996, her name was used again for Mindin’ My Own Business, but that show didn’t air.
Parton was also the first country star to win the Grammy Award. The Grammy Awards recognize artists who have contributed significantly to the cultural, social, and scientific heritage of the United States. Dolly Partons has won four Grammys for her music, including three for her hit song “Jolene”. In the year 2000, Whitney Houston covered the song.
Despite her success, however, Parton’s songs often focus on the plight of women in a relationship. Many of her early songs revolve around the pitfalls of toxic relationships. Her 1967 single “The Bridge” tells the tragic tale of a pregnant woman who meets her end on the same bridge where she first fell in love with a man.
Born in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, Dolly Parton is an American country singer, actress, and guitarist. She began playing music at an early age, learning the ropes from her family members and singing in church. Parton was given her first guitar by a relative. By the age of 13, she had already written and performed her first song.
In 1995, Dolly Parton launched her Imagination Library to encourage children to read. It is funded by donations from Dolly Parton and local community partners and has distributed more than 125 million free books around the world. The library now spans five countries and gifts over one million books per month to children around the world.
In addition to her musical work, Dolly Parton has a long list of notable movies. Her self-titled TV series was a hit in 1976, and she has also hosted her own series in the late 1970s. Her movie career likewise fluctuated between great and forgettable, including ‘9 to 5’ and “Rhinestone.” Other notable films include ‘Blue Smoke’ with Kenny Rogers and Trio, and “Honky Tonk Angels” starring Emmylou Harris and Loretta Lynn.
