Durrell Babbs grew up in a religious family and was a multi-sport athlete. During his high school years, he received an offer to play college football. However, he opted for music instead. As a teenager, he sang backing vocals for the singer Ginuwine. His mother encouraged him to become a musician and she also encouraged him to participate in church activities.

Durrell Babbs, aka Tank, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. His family came from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was raised. His father was a military officer, and his mother was a devout Christian. During his high school years, he enrolled in the Crossland High School in Temple Hills, Maryland. He turned down a college football scholarship to pursue his passion for music. Since then, he has collaborated with artists such as Aaliyah, Beyonce, Fantasia Barrino, Kelly Rowland, Marques Houston, and Jamie Foxx.
