George Arroyo is a vitreoretinal surgeon at Boston Vision, a private medical practice. Prior to this he had been associated with the Boston Institute of Diabetes and Metabolic Disease.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southeastern University and a master’s in sport science from United States Sports Academy. Additionally, he has served as head coach at Warner University – an NCCAA Division II school located in Lancaster, OH.

Early Life and Education

Arroyo was born into a political family on April 5, 1947 in San Juan, Philippines. She attended elementary and high school at Assumption Convent before graduating as valedictorian in 1964. Additionally, she continued her education at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where she met future United States president Bill Clinton while studying there as well.

Her political career began in 1992 when she ran for senator, winning a three-year term and then being re-elected to another six year term in 1995. During this period of service as senator, she passed 55 laws that improved economic and social governance.

On January 20th 2001, the Philippine Supreme Court declared Estrada unfit to serve and Arroyo was sworn in as president by Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr. In her inaugural address, Arroyo promised to create up to 10 million jobs, balance the budget, improve tax collection and provide affordable medicines for the poor.
