George Dellos, 86, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 in Osprey, Florida. Survived by his wife Kay; children David Dellos of Coralville, IA; Anne Dellos of Phoenix, AZ; and two grandchildren Adam and Ben from San Francisco, CA.

George was an impressive professional figure, boasting a powerful physique and warm heart. In 2015 he cofounded Accelerate Resources, an energy technology startup that specialized in upstream oil and gas asset acquisition and management.

He was an astute entrepreneur, enjoying the chance to assist early stage companies in increasing their profitability. He earned a place among the top 20 on Dallas Business Journal’s list of 40 under 40 and was honored with an honorable mention on Oil & Gas Investor’s Top 25 under 35 list.

He was an exemplary family man, featuring his name on numerous Christmas cards and spending time with relatives around the globe. All who knew him will miss him dearly.

Achievements and Honors

George Dellos was an internationally acclaimed conductor and author of books on choral-orchestral music. He served on the Board of Directors for Chorus America and was honored with an honorary doctorate by Kent State University.

He was a lifelong veteran of the US Army and longtime resident of Moline, Illinois; where he was active in his church and community. In 2003 he and his wife Kay relocated to Osprey, Florida where he continued his military service.

On March 27, SSU student-athletes Asia Stinson and Rachel White were among hundreds who received academic honors awards during Honors Day Convocation at UGA. Stinson, a junior track & field athlete, earned the 2014 University of System Georgia Board of Regents Academic Achievement Award, while White, a senior softball player, was recognized as a Gold Medallion Scholar with her 4.0 GPA.

Personal Life

Personal life refers to the activities and relationships an individual chooses to live. It differs from work or community life, which are usually constrained by social expectations.

George Dellos, a native of Moline, Illinois and an accomplished plumber by trade, was a journeyman in Minnedosa, Manitoba before relocating to Erickson, Manitoba where he worked as the head plumber at Dalzel Hardware for many years.

He and his wife Ellen sold their business in 1995, allowing them to travel the country. Along the way they made many friends who became lifelong family members. He loved his woodworking, his family, and traveling. On December 1, 2022 he passed away peacefully at home in Osprey, FL surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed by Kay his wife of 24 years and their extended family members.
