Henry Kaczmar Wants to Play Major League Baseball

Chris Kaczmar of Walsh Jesuit baseball coaching fame has an outstanding Ohio high school coaching resume with four state championships and seven regional titles to his credit – making him one of the most successful coaches ever seen at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

Ohio State baseball team members Matthew Graveline and Henry Kaczmar will continue to make significant contributions after both were named to the Big Ten All-Freshmen Team on Tuesday.

Early Life and Education

Henry Kaczmar is one of many 16-year-olds with dreams of playing major league baseball who wish to make that dream a reality, but unlike most, he’s already made significant steps toward that dream – signing with Ohio State baseball as his college commitment and attending Walsh Jesuit High School in Akron as an underclassmen shortstop!

He initially committed to Michigan but after Erik Bakich left as head coach of the Wolverines, decommitted and made a pledge to his hometown team instead. His family is pleased that he decided to stay close by.

Kaczmar could take the field at shortstop under new head coach Bill Mosiello this season for Ohio State, replacing longtime star infielder Andy Stern who led his high school team to state semifinal and regional final competition during his junior and senior seasons.

Professional Career

Henry Kaczmar is not the first teenager to dream of playing professionally, but this 2022 Walsh Jesuit graduate may be closer than most 16-year-olds to reaching that goal. Chris Kaczmar serves as an esteemed head coach at Walsh Jesuit and also heads Kaczmar Architects Incorporated of Cleveland as president.

Kaczmar initially pledged his allegiance to Michigan, but later decommitted upon Erik Bakich’s departure as head coach of the Wolverines. Instead he made an adjustment in his plans and now pledges his allegiance to Ohio State.

Walsh expects its shortstop to play an instrumental role on their squad this year. Last season he hit.568 with four homers, 36 RBI and 13 stolen bases; Mason Eckelman of Hawken High has committed to Michigan for catching. Additionally, Walsh boasts talented infielders such as Dominic Brancel (Hawken); Dylan Gamber (Mayfield); and Tommy Harrison (St Edward).
