How to Make a Deer Leg Gun Rack

If you want to mount your deer-leg gun rack, you need to know how to build it. It is quite an easy process if you know a few basic steps. For the first step, you must remove the horseshoe hoof. This is done by slicing down along the leg. Cut off the dewclaw and the knuckle, separating the hoof from the leg. Then, save the skin as the raw material for the gun rack.

You will need a 1/4- or 5/16 all threadrod to make the deer foot, and leg bones. This will allow you extend the leg bone from foot-to-ankle, giving it more strength. Once you have removed the hide, remove the bone and hoof from the leg. Cut the hoof at the end of each knuckle. A knife is possible, but a hacksaw works better.
