Doolin credits his professors at Gonzaga with providing him with a solid academic foundation, which has proved instrumental to his success. Helen Free’s AP English class encouraged him to express himself through writing while Mark Howell’s calculus class made math accessible and enjoyable for him.
He has worked extensively with New York Theatre Workshop, on productions including Peter and the Starcatcher; Tony Kushner’s Homebody/Kabul and Marie Antoinette; Caryl Churchill’s Far Away and Love and Information; as well as Ivo von Hove’s Hedda Gabler. Jack Doolin was one of the members of the Wild Bunch who were wounded during a gunfight with Sheriff Henry Starr’s posse near Cimarron, Oklahoma in June 1893. They had been hired to hold up Santa Fe train at Cimarron when Doolin shot and killed Starr and two deputies during a robbery attempt he conducted during which time.
