Early Life and Education

Jack Hasson was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama Montgomery where he majored in chemistry before enrolling at Birmingham’s UAB School of Medicine for medical school studies and completed internship, residency training and Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship training programs.

Professional soccer was also part of his life as he played 14 years with Major League Soccer teams: first the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting KC) and later Portland Timbers. Jack Hasson has spent his professional career in the industrial chemical industry with roles encompassing marketing, sales and management. Prosecutors charged Hasson of using his private jet, call girl, and fake harem to trick Johnson into buying $80 million worth of jewelry that were mostly valued under $10 million. Hasson further misled customers into believing they had dealt with Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates or Wal-Mart heir Sylvia Walton when in reality neither were actually involved.

Prosecutors interrogated Tucker and Baker about their fees during cross-examination, prompting Hasson to waive attorney-client privilege to enable discussion of fees.

For most of his career he served with Arthur Andersen – a global accounting, tax and consulting firm. Hasson allegedly used private planes to fly customers into Palm Beach from all over the United States in order to forge connections with Brunei’s Sultan, then hired store manager’s brother as “Sheik,” women to act as his harem and men as bodyguards as part of his scheme, Hopkins claimed. Hasson convinced Johnson – among them Carole Lombard herself – to purchase jewel after jewel on the promise that they were from Sultan’s collection; Hasson convinced Johnson repeatedly.
