As a sophomore, she earned ACC All-Academic recognition and started every match, finishing second on her team in kills, hitting average, aces and blocks – she had 11 matches with double-digit kills and two with double-digit digs!
Her achievements have been acknowledged with several accolades and awards, such as AAFCA awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Jordan Peele) and Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) in Moonlight respectively, along with receiving the AFIM Excellence in Film and Television Award for her work on A Union of Friends Pulling Together TV show.

Janelle Jenkins is a dedicated Christian who preaches the message of Jesus Christ’s love and salvation to anyone willing to hear her message of faith. She often visits friends in hospitals as well as leading Bible studies during church or community events.
She has held various teaching and leadership roles within the public sector, where she developed leaders and empowered staff in order to better lives of marginalized communities. She holds a Master’s degree from The Broad Residency Center for School System Management.

She was born in Bristol, Connecticut USA to Derrick Jenkins and Jodi Jenkins on 29 May 1989 and has two sisters named Shanea and Ontavia Samuel. At Bristol Central High School she met Aaron Hernandez who played football for New England Patriots – they began dating shortly thereafter and got engaged before she got pregnant with their daughter Avielle in 2012.
Unfortunately, Hernandez took his own life while serving out a life sentence for killing Odin Llyod in 2013. Now his daughter is being raised by her mother who continues to pursue her goals and ambitions.
