Born in Brooklyn, Arthur Beckhard began his professional life as an accountant but ultimately switched to theater after meeting Arthur Beckhard at a 1932 dinner party and persuading him that “theater was for me.”

In 1935, Herman Shumlin began their ten-year collaboration with him and helped produce several Lillian Hellman plays such as The Children’s Hour, The Little Foxes and Watch on the Rhine.

In addition to his iconic productions of Lillian *Hellman’s Toys in the Attic and Arthur *Miller’s Death of a Salesman, Bloomgarden also created plays spanning multiple genres. When not at work, Kathy enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her family; additionally, she works as a freelance TV and video editor. Born in Brooklyn, Kathy passed away on February 20, 2020.
