John Lowndes, Founder of Lowndes, Drosdick, Kantor & Reed, P.A.

John Lowndes has been a long-standing supporter and leader of the community, as well as being the founding shareholder of Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed P.A.

He and his three partners founded the firm in 1969 in leased office space in Orlando. Since then, it has blossomed into one of Florida’s largest law firms with iconic headquarters on North Eola Drive.

Early Life and Education

John Lowndes was an accomplished lawyer and champion of the arts. He earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and law degree from American University.

He spent time working for various firms before founding his own law firm in Central Florida. His practice focused on federal Indian law, with expertise ranging from government contracts and environmental concerns to health care law and employment law. Furthermore, he had expertise in tribal governance matters as well.

He spent much of his professional career teaching law at the University of Miami and had an interdisciplinary interest in Native American studies and Earth Systems.

Faircloth was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who had an immense impact on thousands of students and families throughout Alabama during his 41 year educational career. Additionally, he served as executive director for the Alabama Independent School Association.

Professional Career

At the age of nine, Lowndes began his racing career. He quickly progressed from go-karting to become a professional race car driver.

He is a three-time V8 Supercar Champion, five-time Barry Sheene Medalist and seven-time Bathurst 1000 victor. Additionally, he has won nine 500 kilometre endurance titles.

In 2005, Lowndes switched to Ford and has enjoyed a series of successes. He was the first Triple Eight driver to win the season opener at Winton, as well as victories at Gold Coast and Barbagallo races.

Achievements and Honors

Lowndes has made a name for himself in motor racing with six Sandown 500 victories, two Phillip Island 500 titles and one Queensland 500 victory to his credit.

He is a member of the Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame and recipient of the Barry Sheene Medal for his achievements in motorsport. Additionally, he has been an invited speaker at Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Cricket Ground.

He won the Australian Formula Ford Championship in 1993, despite driving an old Van Diemen with minimal sponsorship. Subsequently, he transitioned to Formula Brabham and won that competition’s Australian championship in 1994.

He was awarded the Order of Australia and founded Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed P.A. He has been practicing real estate transactions, development and financing for over four decades.

Personal Life

John Lowndes has always had a deep-seated passion for his community. As part of the Lowndes family, he has dedicated himself to volunteering and serving as a mentor for young people within it.

He has also been an influential community leader, serving on the Maitland Chamber of Commerce and City of Maitland Charter Review Commission. Additionally, he holds positions with planning and zoning board, City of Maitland Community Redevelopment Agency and Maitland Electric Power Advisory Board.

He enjoys playing basketball and traveling with his family when not practicing law. Additionally, he has a passion for the legal field; currently practicing land use, construction, utilities, and local government law as a member of the Orange County Bar Association.
