Early Life and Education

John Venturella was born on July 26, 1934 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to parents John and Erma Venturella.

He is a graduate of Escalon High School and attended Modesto Junior College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Prior to entering the chemical industry, he held employment at Hunt Wesson Foods in Yuba City and Niagara Chemical in Hughson.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. A parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church (Ripon), he worked hard and intelligently to help those around him. Whether you needed answers or advice, he was the person you could turn to with ease; an excellent listener who deeply loved his family and friends. Survived by sisters Beatrice Johnson and Ruth Cannizzaro; along with many nieces and nephews; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Professional Career

John Venturella was a tax specialist, providing advice to businesses of all sizes–from multinationals to closely held and family owned enterprises–on income, trust and estate taxes as well as complex compliance tax issues, mergers & acquisitions and succession planning. Additionally, John had expertise in assisting high net worth individuals with advanced estate planning techniques and the tax implications of emerging federal legislation.

He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying golfing, skiing, shopping and spending time with friends. After 61 years together in Dongan Hills, he and Ann settled there 32 years ago. A proud Staten Islander and parishioner at St. Ann’s RC Church in Dongan Hills, he is survived by his two children Ryan and Nathan Belletto of Escalon and Christina Federico of Fresno; as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Achievements and Honors

John Venturella was an incredibly hard-working and meticulous individual. He had a deep-seated love for his family, as well as being passionate about his faith in God.

He had a deep and abiding love for Ann, whom he dedicated himself to in all that he did. A dedicated member of St. Patrick’s Church in Ripon and past president of the Ripon High School Booster Club, he will be greatly missed.

He earned many accolades throughout his life and was an active member of the Yuba City Lions Club, Sportsmen of Stanislaus and licensed Pest Control Advisor. Prior to retiring in 1996 he worked at Hunt Wesson Foods in Yuba City and Niagara Chemical in Hughson; both businesses he owned until 1996. Above all else though he was a loyal and caring individual who always went the extra mile to assist others with any issue that came his way.

Personal Life

John Venturella was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who cherished his faith deeply. He was an exemplary Catholic man with high aspirations; hardworking and meticulous in his work – the person everyone turned to when they needed answers. John Venturella will be missed by those he touched deeply throughout their lives.

He was an avid sports fan, particularly football, basketball and baseball. Additionally, he had a deep-seated devotion to Ripon High School Athletics as the former president of their Booster Club.

He is survived by his beloved wife Ann of 59 years; daughters Elisa (John) Belletto of Escalon and Christina Federico of Fresno; four grandchildren Ryan, Nathan, Dean and Lucas Federico; as well as great-grandchildren Isabella and Ethan Federico. Preceded in death by his parents John and Erma Venturella of Escalon; father-in-law Albert Nunes from Manteca; brother Thomas Robert Nunes from Escalon.
