Lisha Adams is a retired Army civilian with over 30 years of experience on the military side of things. She held positions of increasing responsibility, culminating in her appointment to serve as Army Materiel Command’s top civilian — an equivalent position to that of three-star general.

Adams has extensive domestic and international tuberculosis (TB) care experience. Additionally, she teaches global health to medical and college students at Dartmouth.

Early Life and Education

Lisha Adams was born in Kittrell, North Carolina to an educated family who encouraged her love of reading; consequently she advanced several grades earlier than other children her age. Lisha attended Booker T. Washington high school where she became valedictorian.

She has worked extensively in both domestic and international TB/HIV/AIDS care and prevention as both a clinician and program manager, and strongly adheres to Geisel’s mission of training global health students as leaders within their fields.

Adams is also an avid artist and has held multiple solo exhibitions. She earned a BA in neuroscience and behavior at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY before earning a MD at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. Adams currently serves as Associate Dean for Global Health and Director of The Center for Health Equity at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine.

Professional Career

Lisa Adams is an award-winning public relations professional who has held senior management positions at leading agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi, Chiat and Bader Rutter. Currently she leads Sage Virtual Communications – a public relations firm focused on serving crop protection industry clients.

According to her nomination, she has over 27 years of government experience and currently oversees an 800-strong military, civilian, and contractor work force. One of her current responsibilities includes overseeing programs that restock Army aviation fleet as aircraft return from operations for repair or modification for rapid deployment.

Adams has been an effective, authoritative voice in her community throughout this pandemic. She understands that developing community messages requires careful thought, consideration, empathy and consideration as any miscommunication could potentially do more damage than good.

Achievement and Honors

Adams has earned several accolades during her career, such as the Professional Development Award of Excellence from the National Agri-Marketing Association. Furthermore, she serves as principal of Sage Virtual Communications–a public relations firm dedicated to crop protection clients.

She has done both voice acting and appeared regularly in the English dub of Pokemon anime. Additionally, she founded Crazy Space as an alternative exhibition space in Los Angeles.

Redstone Arsenal marked Lisha Adams’ retirement as their top civilian leader with credentials equaling those of a three-star general. She oversaw materiel life cycle management, acquisition support, personnel and resource management, industrial base operations and enterprise integration across 144 locations globally and 50 states for an organization boasting such an international footprint as Redstone Arsenal.

Personal Life

Lisha Adams is an artist known for creating imaginative worlds through painting that speaks both personally and collectively about reality. She has shown both nationally and internationally; her pieces can be found in collections like LACMA, Eli Broad Foundation and San Jose Museum of Art.

She began her career with AMC Materiel Maintenance Management as an Army civilian intern. Through hard work and diligence she eventually earned a top leadership role at AMC and rose to become its equivalent of three-star general.

She earned the Department of the Army Distinguished Civilian Service Award, one of its highest civilian awards. Additionally, she authored Living With Cancer blog post and frequent guest podcast appearances; having an incredible sense of empathy towards readers and followers alike.
