Early Life and Education
Mark Batterson was born November 5, 1969 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is an American Pastor, Evangelist and Author who currently serves as Lead Pastor of National Community Church in Washington D.C.
After accepting his call into full-time ministry in 1994, Batterson moved to Washington, DC in order to direct an inner city Bible college. While at University of Chicago on a basketball scholarship and majoring in pre-law studies, he transferred to Central Bible College for undergraduate studies, later receiving two master’s degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
He currently resides in Capitol Hill with his wife Lora and children Parker, Summer, and Josiah. Known for his passionate yet inspiring sermons as well as hosting conferences and teaching leadership courses; as well as authoring books such as Win the Day, Chasing the Lion, and Wild Goose Chase – Dr. Scott can often be found preaching fervently to audiences of all kinds!
