Roy Rossello – Political Aspirant, Musician and TV Host
Roy Rossello was a member of Menudo boy band and in the three-part Peacock documentary Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed claimed music executive Jose Menendez (father of Lyle and Erik Menendez) sexually assaulted him when he was still young.
This allegation comes nearly 30 years after the Menendez brothers were convicted of murdering their parents, lending more support for their defense in their first trial.
Early Life and Education
Rossello began pursuing politics from an early age. His family joined Puerto Rica’s New Progressive Party. Rossello studied at Notre Dame where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors; later attending Yale for graduate work on public health before finally retiring in 1981.
In 2023, Peacock docuseries “Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed” premiered and featured Roy Rossello of Boy Band Menudo who claimed Jose Menendez (killed by Lyle and Erik after they raped their parents) had molested him as a child. A judge later dismissed this testimony as inadmissible evidence.
Rossello divides his time between Puerto Rico and Brazil, running a real estate company selling million-dollar mansions. A committed progressive, Rossello advocates for abortion rights, women’s empowerment and medical marijuana legalization as well as being pro-LGBT rights: creating the first advisory board dedicated to LGBT issues while supporting conversion therapy ban and lighting his residence with rainbow hues during his term as governor.

These allegations come 27 years after Lyle and Erik Menendez were murdered by their father Jose at his Beverly Hills mansion, sparking an international headline-making trial based on allegations that Jose sexually abused his two sons for years prior to their deaths.

Rossello went on to pursue his music career after leaving Menudo and eventually settled in Brazil, owning a bar in Campinas and hosting radio shows. Additionally, Rossello shares custody of daughter Bianca with one former Menudo member; The Sun reported this.

According to him, it was the country’s culture and climate which inspired his move; they claim he conceived Bianca through an encounter with one of Menudo’s fans while touring there in 1985. He currently has four children from his four romantic relationships – Bianca was one of them!
Rossello made these allegations against Jose Menendez, father of Erik and Lyle Menendez who have both been charged with murder. These claims echoed those made by former photojournalist Bolivar Arellano when interviewing members of teen Latin pop group formed by Edgardo Diaz which featured in Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed 2023 Peacock docuseries. No charges were ever filed against Diaz who founded it all.
