Safiya Shari Daniels will be deeply missed by her loved ones and community alike. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Mt. Zion Chapel Baptist Church in Pamplico, South Carolina where she was later baptized. Safiya leaves behind parents Rev William Gregory and Lisa Williams; stepmother Pamela Daniels; siblings William Gregory Daniels II Gabrielle Daniels Jasmine Daniels Fre Greham Layla Graham as well as other aunts uncles cousins and friends to cherish her memory.

Early Life and Education

Safiya Stephanie Musa Daniels was an impact entrepreneur, banking professional, and social worker renowned for her intelligence, leadership skills, ardent devotion to deserving causes, adaptability, and perseverance. A graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School in South Carolina as well as Bayero University in Nigeria;

Daniels noticed during hurricane season that Biloxi residents weren’t gathering to discuss how federal funds for reconstruction would impact low-income residents. To mobilize residents and get them talking about these issues, she formed Citizens Together for a Better Community (CWC), distributed letters asking state legislators in Jackson to ensure federal money was allocated fairly, and collected over 1,000 signatures by August. Daniels is survived by her father Rev William Gregory; mother Lisa Williams; stepmother Pamela Daniels; brother Gabrielle Daniels and sisters Jasmine Daniels Fre Greham and Layla Graham as well as maternal grandmother Sherry Anthony as well as various uncles, aunts uncles, cousins.

Professional Career

At age 27 Safiya Daniels was an accomplished premed student planning to pursue a career in medicine. However, an act of community spirit – helping her sorority raise money for urban youth in need – changed everything; leading her into activism with the Black Panther Party and eventually jail. This collection of essays, speeches and other writings chronicle Safiya Daniels’ relentless commitment to organizing throughout her life as an activist who ultimately joined it; joining as revolutionary organizer, political prisoner and modern African-American woman until her passing on August 21, 2022 leaving family and friends behind her.

Achievement and Honors

Daniels had long been a mainstay in Ring of Honor wrestling. Known for some of its most memorable matches and earning numerous accolades, the one thing missing was winning a world title – until March 10 when Daniels beat Adam Cole to become ROH World Champion! Following that triumphant momentous momentous win, The Briscoes carried him out of the ring to celebrate together with everyone around wrestling!

Safiya has made herself known in her community through various roles at New Vision Community Development Corporation and Darlington County Long Term Recovery Group, while traveling across Africa assisting indigenous ministries. Additionally, Safiya was selected as a Dornsife Fellow and currently studies Literature and Creative Writing at University of Southern California.

William Gregory leaves behind her mother Lisa Williams; stepmother Pamela Daniels; siblings William Gregory Daniels II, Gabrielle Daniels, Jasmine Daniels, Fre Greham, and Layla Graham; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who cherish her legacy.
