Representative Arndt represents the 89th District which encompasses Erie and Ottawa counties. He has an established track record of taking on difficult issues like economic development, water quality and education.

Early Life and Education
Steve Arndt is an IEEE registered professional engineer and member of ANS. Currently employed at ORNL as a staff scientist, Steve leads external communications and advocacy efforts within ANS, has been an ANS member for 41 years and currently leads this department of the society.
He represents Ohio House District 89th in Ottawa and Erie counties and has championed economic, workforce development, healthcare and Lake Erie initiatives and legislation during his time in office.
Alongside his legislative work, Mr. Delehanty finds great enjoyment playing hockey with various local teams – most notably 19 seasons with Concord Budmen – which runs in his family; Jaime plays for Dartmouth while Dan played at Naval Academy.
Professional Career
As an expert with more than 24 years of experience, he has conducted risk and hazard analyses on consumer products, industrial machinery and systems, oil field hydraulic fracturing operations, amusement park attractions, automotive equipment, auditory warnings/signals/medical devices/devices and various other systems. In addition, full-scale vehicle handling tests were also conducted to assess stability/control issues.
Steven Arndt is an outstanding Research & Development staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), having joined in 2021. Among his duties at ORNL, Steven leads an effort focused on advanced reactor design readiness research efforts while serving as President of American Nuclear Society 68th Council of Presidents.
He represents Ohio House District 89th District which encompasses Erie and Ottawa counties, working to promote economic, workforce, healthcare and Lake Erie initiatives in statehouse.
Achievement and Honors
Steven Arndt is a master of nuclear power plant simulation, severe accident analysis, software reliability analysis, digital instrumentation and cybersecurity. He holds numerous achievements and honors – notably being named federal engineer of the year by National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
As an active member of NSPE, Arndt serves on its Committee on Policy and Advocacy as well as Chairing its Professional Engineers in Government interest group. In addition, he is an Honorary Fellow of American Nuclear Society.
In June 2015, he was elected to represent Ohio House District 89th (which covers Ottawa and Erie counties), taking over for former State Representative Steve Kraus, who resigned due to being charged with theft felony theft charges in July and resigned his office subsequently.

Eddie Jeremiah of Dartmouth hockey fame gave Steve Arndt an “encouragement nudge” as he made Hanover home for four seasons, which proved pivotal.
Arndt is an Oak Ridge National Laboratory R&D staff member and adjunct professor in nuclear engineering at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. In 2016, he became president of the American Nuclear Society – an organization which brings people from diverse careers together to study nuclear sciences as a means to improving lives and protecting our planet.
He is also an active member of his community, holding board positions with both Northwest Area Office on Aging and Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce. Representing Ohio’s 89th House District which encompasses Erie and Ottawa counties is his responsibility.
