Snavely was an integral component of the Spartans blueline during his four years in East Lansing and helped advance them towards greater hockey prominence.
He currently handles administrative duties at his company and appreciates working alongside a great team. Originally hailing from Lancaster, he now resides with his wife and boxer pup.
Early Life and Education
Snavely was raised in a pastor’s home. After attending Bob Jones University for both undergraduate and graduate studies, he served as both youth pastor in Michigan and pastor in New Jersey before going on to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as part of his career pursuits with Nancy Carrington as his partner and daughter Sophia as his helpers.
Snavely was an active philanthropist who dedicated much of his efforts and passion towards Haiti. He established the Haiti Timber Reintroduction Project and helped expand it over time to include planting over 4,000 trees across 59 communities.
He was working on an updated version of Gordon that could process information more rapidly, according to reports by his colleagues. Two weeks before his death, he sketched a prototype on whiteboard at the lab.
Professional Career
While in high school, Steve worked at his father’s six-person wholesale lumber company and gained valuable sales experience through this job. It sparked his interest in sales.
Reaping the rewards of working closely with his team, he finds great satisfaction in seeing projects completed on schedule and within budget. Customers and the satisfaction that comes from helping them realize their projects is also what gives him great joy in his job.
Dawn oversees accounting, general office duties, HR and credit departments in her role at Dawn LLC. She relishes its variety and enjoys working alongside people she considers friends.
Steve currently plays for the Wheeling Nailers in the East Coast Hockey League, an affiliate team of Pittsburgh Penguins. He hopes to get called up at some point this season; currently holding all-time three pointer records within BH-BL.
Achievement and Honors
Snavely stands as Bucknell’s most successful football coach ever with an astounding 42-16-8 record between 1927-33. During that period, he mentored two All-Americans including legendary player Clarke Hinkle; additionally his 1929 Bison squad went eight-0 – setting an unprecedented win streak record at Bucknell.
As a senior, he excelled in both football and baseball – starting three consecutive years each – while tri-captaining basketball team as well as earning all-state recognition by Saratogian, Times Union and Schenectady Gazette first teams.
Current Position at JC Snavely & Sons as Supervisor | Donnie is responsible for scheduling, dispatch, driving, delivery and general office work at JC Snavely & Sons as a Supervisor. Donnie enjoys working on various projects while spending time with his family (Lindsay has one daughter as well as two “furry children”, Dory & Nala).
Personal Life
Snavely enjoys spending his free time with his three children. Additionally, he likes traveling – weekend excursions are his preferred method of discovering new surroundings.
At Harvard, Snavely became notorious for hosting rowdy parties at Thayer Hall. At one such gathering he famously threw frash cans from high altitude – although no one was injured by them!
Snavely works at J.C. Snavely & Sons as part of their estimating department and housing shop, responsible for coordinating materials with customers while staying within budget for jobs. He enjoys working at this family-owned business as each day brings something new. Also, working here allows him to use both his math and organizational skills on an everyday basis.
