Businessman Steve Umling is Running For School Board in Caddo Parish

Caddo Parish voters will soon go to the polls to elect Jim Galambos as Mayor of Blanchard and businessman Steve Umling as his challenger, both running as Republicans for CPSB District 1 which covers schools from Rodessa through Mooringsport, Belcher and Blanchard.

Early Life and Education

He grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa – an environment full of cultural diversity – where his life-affirming musical style combined afrocentric grooves with folk harmonies to form his own distinctive sound. His enthusiastic personality and zestful outlook on life come through in his songs and live shows.

He is running for Caddo Parish School Board District 1 to replace incumbent Steve Riall who is not running again. With an experience-rich business background and two terms as president of North Shreveport Lions Club under his belt, Tire Crew, Micah for You and 1 Corinthians being among his accomplishments as two books published through Preaching the Word series are his forte in representing his district well.

Professional Career

Steve Umling owns Tire Crew in Shreveport, Louisiana and is running for Caddo Parish School Board to represent District 1. He believes his business experience will allow him to effectively represent constituents; incumbent Jim Galambos faces off against Umling on Nov. 6. Umling’s ultimate goal is for students who graduate into becoming business-ready community members after leaving school – something North Shreveport Lions Club can assist with.

Achievement and Honors

Umling, currently president of North Shreveport Lions Club, is running for Caddo Parish School Board District 1 seat which he believes he can represent well. His opponent in this race is Kisha Newsom – also a Republican. This seat covers Rodessa, Mooringsport, Belcher Blanchard as well as several communities located within northwest Louisiana.

KSLA News 12 reports that incumbent Mayor of Blanchard Jim Galambos will seek four more years of office and will face businessman Steve Umling in an election scheduled for Nov 8th. Galambos, who has lived in Blanchard since 1991, hopes to help it flourish through building relationships with residents and addressing their concerns.

Personal Life

Steve Umling is running to fill a seat on the Caddo Parish School Board in District 1, covering Rodessa to Mooringsport, Belcher and Blanchard in northwestern Louisiana. His business experience will serve him well in this capacity; incumbent Jim Galambos will face him on November 6.

He is married to Amy Umling and they have two children together. Additionally, he holds a Type 01 Federal Firearms License.
