Steven Gosney

Steven Gosney is a Florida-based appellate attorney specializing in criminal appeals. Additionally, he has served as an assistant public defender.

He missed his first Human Be-In when he was seven, so on its 25th anniversary, he organized the inaugural Digital Be-In.

This party coincided with Macworld Expo in San Francisco. It proved immensely successful; and eventually he produced 18 more such parties throughout Japan and London.

Early Life and Education

Gosney attended Shawnee Mission South High School in Kansas from seventh to high school and missed out on attending the Human Be-In that kicked off the Summer of Love. However, in 1988 he created his own version called Digital Be-In by piggybacking on Macworld Expo – an annual trade show dedicated exclusively to Apple computers in San Francisco – for an innovative approach.

He created Verbum magazine which showcased computer art. One of the first magazines printed using desktop publishing software instead of traditional methods, Verbum eventually transitioned into Verbum Interactive; an online magazine dedicated to digital arts.

He currently serves as an Assistant Public Defender drafting appeals for indigent clients in Florida’s Seventh Judicial Circuit and is board-certified by the Florida Bar in criminal trial law. Additionally, he holds bachelor and law degrees from Stetson University, Washington & Lee and UCF respectively.

Professional Career

Kaylinn Gosney has long had a deep commitment to change. From being published bioengineering researchers and artists to activist roles within clubs and student councils and founding Fringe Benefits as an animal shelter charity organization – Kaylinn has always had an insatiable thirst for progressivism and advocacy for change.

After an impressive career at Portsmouth, Gosney moved on to Birmingham City but suffered an unfortunate shoulder injury during his debut match, effectively ending his professional football career. Instead he now works as a lawyer specializing in criminal appeals in Volusia County Florida – certified by both Florida Bar and Amicus Lex Alumni Association in criminal trial law; earning various awards and honors during his time there.

Achievement and Honors

Gosney was an exemplary scholar and passionate party planner; an active member of multiple clubs and student organizations with an undying dedication for creating change.

His accomplishments also included political cartooning and advocating for animal rights. For his research, art, and social commentary he has received multiple awards.

Gov. Rick Scott announced Friday that Raven Sword and Katherine Hurst Miller will join Gosney on the circuit court nominating commission for Volusia, Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns counties, effective January 2022. All three individuals are Republicans; 14 applicants applied and they will all take their oath of office soon thereafter. This nomination commission was established in 2017; its members must all be registered voters.

Personal Life

Gosney was born in 1954 in New Castle, Indiana and attended Shawnee Mission South High School where he excelled on both football and basketball teams while also enjoying karaoke as a hobby. Additionally he enjoyed Native American studies, Purdue women’s basketball, camping and reading.

He began publishing Verbum, one of the earliest computer art magazines, in 1986 and later converted it to an online website and platform. Additionally, he launched Psychedelics and Consciousness, an online news service dedicated to the entheogen movement. Additionally, he owned a 1980 Peterbilt 359 equipped with Cummins Big Cam 2 engine and Fuller 13-speed transmission as his car of choice, attended Crossroads Christian Church regularly, was survived by two daughters: Kate Gosney-Hoffman and Rachel Gosney
