Thomas Harklerode of Lowellville Ohio lives with his wife and four children at 204 West Walnut Street. Thomas works as a building and grounds maintenance and cleaning specialist.

Trent Milby has taken over as Berea golf coach. He has done an outstanding job filling in for Coach Harklerode.

Early Life and Education

Thomas was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Berea, Kentucky where he served as Deacon and Trustee, officiating both basketball and baseball for KHSAA, NCAA, and local recreational leagues. Additionally he leaves behind his wife Beverly Cummins Harkleroad as well as sons Lesley Thompson, Bunky (Shan) Harkleroad of Berea; daughters Angela Harkleroad with H.D. Prewitt of London KY and Barbara Bussell in Salado TX as well as one brother Jack Harkleroad with numerous nieces and nephews that remain.

He was a cherished father and grandfather to Nichole Feaster, Ken Feaster and family, Tyler Harklerode and Ava Harklerode; extended family, close friends and extended community alike will miss him dearly. A true “jack of all trades”, he was trained as a physicist but at heart enjoyed golf.

Professional Career

Thomas Harklerode was a retired pre-trial supervisor. He is survived by his wife Beverly Cummins Harklerode; two sons, Lesley Thompson and Bunky Harklerode of Lordstown; one daughter Angela (H.D.) Prewitt of Berea; eight grandchildren Ryley Thompson, Tory Harklerode, Tahni Harklerode Cade Prewitt Brayden Prewitt Cameron Prewitt Brentlie Prewitt two brothers Jack Harkleroad and Harold Bussell plus one sister Vaughtie B Allison of Marion plus many special nieces and nephews

Born in Oneida and a member of Westside Baptist Church in Lowellville, he passed away July 31, 2014 at 67. Additionally he served as baseball and basketball coach and officiated for various recreational leagues while owning his own business that made an electric field measuring device. He resided at 204 W Walnut Street.

Achievement and Honors

Thomas was both captain and medalist when USC golf won its inaugural PIAA State Championship, as well as helping lead three consecutive section titles from 2011-2013. Additionally, Thomas earned recognition by being named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll from 2014-15 as well as serving on its Student Athlete Advisory Council for three years; graduating Summa Cum Laude High School.

His family includes his wife Beverly Cummins Harklerode; two sons Zachary and Alex Harklerode, daughter Malerie Harklerode, four grandchildren Ryley Thompson, Tory Harklerode, Tahni Harklerode and Brayden Prewitt as well as one sister Gina Vicarel and one brother Gene Harklerode and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Personal Life

Thomas Harklerode was born in Oneida, Kentucky. After retiring as a pre-trial supervisor from the State of Kentucky he served as member, deacon, trustee of Westside Baptist Church in Berea – coaching golf and women’s basketball and serving as baseball and basketball official for KHSAA, NAIA and local recreational leagues.

Harklerode is survived by his wife Beverly Cummins Harkleroad as well as two of their three children; Lesley Thompson (and husband, David) of Marion; Bunky Harkleroad and wife Shan, from Sacramento California, Angela Prewitt with Michael Prewitt of Swannanoa; their eight grandchildren: Ryley Thompson, Tory Thompson, Tahni Harkleroad Cameron Harkleroad Cade Prewitt Brentlie Prewitt as well as several special nieces and nephews.

His current address is 204 West Walnut Street in Lowellville, Ohio 44436-1028 and funeral services will take place at 6 pm on August 3, 2014.

Thomas P. Harklerode Memorial Fund at Lordstown First Federal Savings Bank in Lordstown and Mount Union. A private service will take place shortly, with arrangements handled by Hartman Funeral Homes of Lordstown and Mount Union.
