Thomas Mika
Thomas Mika is currently serving as Chairman of Rennova Health. Previously he served as CFO and CEO for Tegal Corporation – an semiconductor capital equipment manufacturer – until 2005.
He has collaborated with ballet companies around the world, such as Stuttgarter Ballett, Staatsballett Berlin, National Ballet of China, Universal Ballet Seoul Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Ballet X Philadelphia. Early Life and Education
Thomas Mika attended the Hamburger Hochschule fur Musik und Theater before creating his inaugural piece as set and costume designer for Staatsballett Berlin in 2006. Since then he has collaborated worldwide with ballet companies such as Ballet de l’Opera National de Paris, Royal Birmingham Ballet Stuttgarter Ballett and Bolshoi Ballet Moscow as well as modern choreographers Alejandro Cerrudo Edward Clug Marco Goecke Leo Mujic among others.
In 2014, Mika appeared as Mustafa in Salma Hayek’s animated film, The Prophet, inspired by Lebanese-American poet and philosopher Kahlil Gibran’s works and featured at Cannes Film Festival 2015. Later that same year he joined the jury of La Plus Belle Voix singing competition and mentored one of its contestants Kendji Girac.
Professional Career
Thomas Mika began his lighting design career at a lighting manufacturer while studying. This experience ignited his love of lighting design and ultimately led him down a full-time path as an illumination designer.
He serves as Chairman of Rennova Health and its predecessor Tegal Corporation and has been an integral member of Tegal since its spin-out from Motorola in 1989; serving as CFO, CEO, Chairman and CEO as necessary.
Robert has also directed operas, and in 2006 designed his debut piece at Staatsballett Berlin at just 26: Bizet’s Carmen by Bizet for Staatsballett Berlin. Since then he has created sets and costumes for contemporary choreographers such as Alejandro Cerrudo, Martin Chaix, Edward Clug, Marco Goecke, Leo Mujic Jack Lister Juliano Nunes Kevin O’Day Tim Plegge Sergej Vanaev among many others.
Achievement and Honors
Mika has performed and recorded in Japan, the US, and UK. Her Sadistic Mika Band performed live on BBC Radio 3’s Sounds Interesting program before later releasing Live in London as their live album release. Unfortunately the Sadistic Mika Band eventually disbanded due to a dispute between Mika and drummer Kazuhiko which ultimately lead to them divorcing one another in 1976.
Mika is renowned for her remarkable marimba playing talent and energetic and captivating personality. Her impressive skill at television production allowed her to quickly gain an enormous fan base.
